Abnormal Serum Markers

Serum markers alone do meet the criteria for a screening test, and should not be used to screen for placenta-mediated complications.

The combination of PAPP-A < 0.4 MoM and PLGF <0.4 MoM in the first trimester can be considered an indication for ASA prophylaxis, a placenta function scan and growth monitoring in the third trimester

Small Head Circumference

Short Femur Length

The following follow up is recommended for short femur measurements:

Femur length 1-5 %-normal EFW repeat in 4 weeks

Femur length 1-5% and other anatomic findings/soft markers- MFM referral

Femur length 1-5%, EFW 5-10%, repeat 2 weeks, MCA/UA Dopplers at time of diagnosis and on repeat

Femur length 1-5%, EFW <5% weekly monitoring, MCA/UA Dopplers at time of diagnosis and on repeat

Femur length <1%, MFM referral
